Applying Color Oil for consistent batch results.

Color Oil is designed for consistent, repeatable colour across high-volume furniture production. This guide covers everything you need to achieve uniform results batch to batch — from surface preparation and dilution ratios to application technique and dry times.

1

Surface preparation

Sand all surfaces to 180-grit minimum. Remove all dust with compressed air or a tack cloth. Ensure the wood is dry and at room temperature. Any contamination or moisture at this stage will affect colour absorption and consistency.

Tip

For best colour consistency across a batch, ensure all pieces come from the same wood species and moisture content.

2

Dilution and mixing

Color Oil can be applied undiluted or diluted up to 10% with clean water for spray application. Stir thoroughly before use and between batches. Never shake the tin — this introduces air bubbles that affect finish quality.

Warning

Always use product from the same batch number across a production run. Different batch numbers can produce visible colour variation.

3

Application

Apply a thin, even coat by brush, roller, or spray. For spray application use a 1.5–1.8mm nozzle at 2.0–2.5 bar. Work in the direction of the grain. One coat is sufficient for most applications — a second coat deepens colour intensity.

Tip

Apply a test piece at the start of every batch run and allow it to fully dry before committing the full production run.

4

Dry time and recoat

Touch dry in 30–45 minutes at 25°C. Ready for recoat or Topcoat overcoat after 2 hours. Full cure is achieved after 24 hours. In high humidity or cold conditions extend dry times by 30–50%.

Warning

Do not stack or wrap pieces until fully cured — 24 hours minimum. Early stacking causes transfer marks and colour offset.
